Rogers State University announced the 14th annual Homecoming court candidates. The Hillcat Homecoming King and Queen will be chosen and crowned at the halftime of the men’s basketball game against Newman on Saturday, February 19.
The Homecoming King candidates, along with their photo and statement of consideration, are as follows:
Caden Coleman, from Glenpool, is a senior strategic communications major. He is the president of Hill House and the American Advertising Federation. He is the creator or RSU’s late-night talk show, “It’s Kinda Late with Caden Coleman.” He says, “I want to show that a creative, odd, yet passionate soul as me can represent the place that they love and invest in.”
Alex Jochmans, from Claremore, is a junior medical molecular major. He is part of RSU’s Honors Program. He says, “I am a semi-professional parasite wrangler and master trombonist made of 37.2 trillion cells, eons of stardust, and 50% homework, with aspirations to earn a Ph.D. in infectious diseases and seek employment in a secret government laboratory (or become a professor, whichever comes first). I have a feeling that this year is my time to shine, so I enthusiastically urge you all to once again vote for me as your next Homecoming king.”
Matthew Sweetman, from Portsmouth, England, is a junior pre-physical therapy major. He is on the Student Athletic Advisory committee and is part of the men’s soccer team. He says, “I think that people should vote for me as I’m an outgoing guy that looks to do great things at this school. I want to help out where I can and be involved with lots of community service work with the soccer team as well as the SAAC group.”
The Homecoming Queen candidates, along with their photo and statement of consideration, are as follows:
Abby Beller, from Verdigris, is a junior liberal arts major. She is part of RSU’s Honors Program. She says, “I have been involved in so many things in my two and a half years at RSU—from being in the Honors Program, PLC and CAT to helping with Hillcamp and Haunting on the Hill and serving as a Peer Mentor and Student Ambassador. I have loved every second here on the hill. I would love to represent my organization and the student body as Homecoming Queen.”
Bailey Kliewer, from Harrisonville, Missouri, is a junior sport management major. She is part of the women’s basketball team. She says, “I have so much passion for being a Hillcat, some might say too much when it ends up in me getting a technical during a basketball game! I want the very best for both Rogers State and the community of Claremore. This place has become my home away from home and I am so grateful for it.”
Skyler Whisler, from Cushing, is a senior strategic communications major. She is the American Advertising Federation Vice President and is part of RSU’s President’s Leadership Class. She says, “My goal is to be a walking example of what RSU encompasses: compassion, integrity, and inclusivity. Throughout my four years here, I have been given many opportunities to develop these principles. Every opportunity I have to demonstrate kindness and remind others of their value, I will think of my time at this university and be thankful for the lessons I learned both in the classroom and beyond. Be kind, be genuine, and be open to new perspectives.”
