RSU Adult Degree Completion Program Information Session Scheduled Feb. 27

Rogers State University offers an accelerated and flexible program for those who started college, but weren’t able to finish their degree.

An information session about RSU’s Adult Degree Completion Program will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in Herrington Hall, Room 129 on the Claremore campus.

The information session will be informal, with RSU representatives on hand to discuss how students can take full advantage of the program and complete their college degree. The session is free and open to the public, and door prizes will be available for attendees.

Those participating in the RSU Adult Degree Completion program may complete RSU’s Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Organizational Leadership, which is offered online in a flexible, accelerated format to assist more adults in northeast Oklahoma to earn a four-year degree.

“This is a second chance for adults to finish their degree while keeping their normal routines and maintaining regular work hours, yet still having time for their families,” said Dr. Bruce Garrison, Dean of the School of Business and Technology at RSU.

Classes toward the degree are offered in five convenient, eight-week “mini-semesters” each year. Students may enroll in the program prior to each mini-semester. Enrollment is open now for the next session of 8-week classes, which will start the week of March 10.

Students are required to attend only two classes on campus, including the Foundations of Organizational Leadership and Personal Development, and Capstone Project, to complete the program. The remainder of the degree program may be completed online.

The degree is part of the Reach Higher program, a statewide initiative to increase the number of state residents who have earned bachelor’s degrees, coordinated by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

“Our goal is to make this program as convenient and flexible as possible for working adults who have told us they don’t have time to return to college,” Garrison said. “We’re committed to doing everything we can to get them back into college to complete their degree without too much disruption to their busy lives.”

Program curriculum consists of classes that cover topics and skills important in today’s workforce, including organizational behavior, ethics, interpersonal skills, management, finance and communication, and also includes group projects and a senior capstone course.

The broad-based degree will prepare students for a wide variety of careers including education, government, corporate and non-profit environments.
