The Route 66 Playhouse – an old-fashioned live variety program featuring music, skits, comedy and interviews – is looking for Rogers State University students interested in performing or showing off their special talents in the show, according to host Sam Jones.
Auditions for the Route 66 Playhouse will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, in the Will Rogers Auditorium on the RSU campus in Claremore.
The playhouse will feature a prestigious slate of Oklahoma authors, musicians and actors, and will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Will Rogers Auditorium. RSU Theatre is assisting in the production.
“We are encouraging RSU students to audition for the ‘Outrageous Human Antics’ or ‘What We Didn’t Learn in Class’ segments of the production,” Jones said.
Tickets to the show will be $12 dollars for adults and $5 for children under 12 and will be available at the box office during the evening of the production, or in advance by calling the RSU Foundation at (918) 343-7768.
All proceeds from the production will benefit the RSU Foundation, which provides scholarships for RSU students.
“This will be an old-fashioned live radio program that will showcase some of Oklahoma’s most treasured and talented individuals who have enjoyed long and successful careers in broadcasting, instrumental and vocal music, writing and production,” said Jones. “Our main goal is to form an ensemble that will entertain as well as educate.”
