Bachelor of Science in Community Counseling
The Bachelor of Science in Community Counseling degree is designed to foster an understanding of counseling theories, social issues, and effective counseling practice with a diverse population.
Students will be prepared for entry-level positions in community mental health centers, youth and family service agencies, child and family caseworkers, state health and human services departments, substance abuse treatment programs, addiction specialists, correctional facilities, detention centers, and director of residential programs.
Students will be prepared to continue their education in graduate programs in psychology, counseling and human services, leading to licensure as a licensed professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, behavioral practitioner, and alcohol and drug abuse counselor.
Students will gain the knowledge and skills to complete the certification requirements of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, as well as other certification programs.
