Walk-ins are welcome, but students are strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment ahead of time. Make us part of your plan for successful writing.

While we will not proofread or edit papers, we will help students learn and practice strategies for proofreading and editing. Our focus is on the big issues, such as meeting the assignment requirements, organizing and developing an effective argument, documenting sources correctly, and considering your audience (i.e. the people who will read your paper).

Proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation are a key part of clarity and audience awareness, but proofreading and editing are the responsibility of the student; therefore, our tutors will help students learn to do these tasks themselves rather than doing the work for them.

Proper writing consultations take time and effort on the part of both the writer and the tutor. With this in mind, we will not accept paper drop-offs.

Tutoring sessions last between 30-50 minutes, time that is spent in conversation about the paper assignment at hand and about the writer's choices, ideas, and writing process.
