Ceramic bowls created by Tulsa artist Emily Main will be exhibited from March 11 through April 9 at Rogers State University.
This will be the first one-person exhibition of the ceramicist, who received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tulsa in 1999. Since graduating, Main’s work has been featured in several group shows across Oklahoma, including a collaborative exhibition with her father, Edward J. Main, who also is a Tulsa artist.
Her work has been featured in exhibitions presented by the Tulsa Artists’ Coalition, Living Arts of Tulsa, Philbrook Museum of Art, the Alexandre Hogue Gallery at TU and the Norick Art Center at Oklahoma City University.
Although the RSU exhibition will feature her ceramics, Main also is an accomplished painter. She studied under Gary Moeller, RSU art professor, at the summer art program in Montone, Italy.
The RSU exhibition will be held in Foundations Gallery, located in Baird Hall on the Claremore campus. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at the gallery.
RSU offers a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, associate’s degrees in art and liberal arts with several major options, and a minor in art.
