Interlibrary Loan

Stratton Taylor Library has been very successful in getting materials from other libraries for the faculty and staff.  The  library shares resources within a large network of lenders who provide interlibrary loan, usually with no fees. If a fee is charged, the library will cover the charge except for damaged or missing items.  Books and AV items typically take 10 business days to arrive.  Articles may arrive electronically in less than a week, or may take longer if the lender sends by mail. Teaching Support

Embedded Librarian

In response to the explosion of courses offered online, academic libraries have developed the Embedded Librarian model.  RSU is currently piloting an Embedded Librarian program in one online class, and will launch this service campus-wide in Fall 2008. Learn more. Contact: Sarah Clark.

Custom Online Tutorials

Stratton-Taylor Library offers a variety of online tutorials on information literacy topics like avoiding plagiarism and evaluating websites and other sources for reliability and accuracy. At instructor request, the library can create a custom video tutorial on research skills and sources specific to a field of study.  The custom tutorial can then be posted to a course WebCT page, or elsewhere. Contact: Sarah Clark.

Information Literacy: Library Instruction for Classes

Class instructors may schedule tours of the library, basic library instruction, or customized instruction for their classes.  Customized instruction would be a visit or unit that is planned with the faculty member to meet the needs of specific class groups. To schedule, contact the coordinator, Jan Ferris or the librarian of your choice.

Subject Bibliographies

Booklists, journal lists, or pathfinders based on resources available through the library may be produced in response to a specific need after a consultation to determine subject parameters, time requirements, and other factors. Contact:  Laura Bottoms.

Information Searching

New information technologies have enhanced our ability to locate and obtain general and specialized information sources.  Librarians are available to discuss your research project and determine how we can help.
