More About Claremore Reads Together
One-book community-wide reading programs were initiated in 1998 by the Washington Center for the Book. Since, community reading projects have been introduced across the nation and around the world.
Claremore's Will Rogers Library and Rogers State University's Stratton Taylor Library co-sponsor the community read project in this area. It began in January 2006 when a group of 22 people, many of whom were educators, organized Claremore Reads Together.
Each year, members of Claremore Reads Together select a book and plan activities around the book. Our purpose is to encourage the joy of reading and discussion among adults in our area and to include younger readers when possible through appropriate activities.
