STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

Officers

Philip Jackson
President
Public Administration Major
Senior

Organizations: Rogers State University Student Government Association, Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (O.I.L.),
Hobbies: Music, Instructor for the American Bushido-Kia Karate Association, reading, everything government
Goals: My goals in the RSU SGA are to make student life more vibrant and get people excited about government. "Government" can be an intimidating word but it is simply the order in which we organize our lives. I want to share my love for due process and hopefully empower the next generation. I hope to leave RSU in better shape than I found it and along the way grow as an individual and a leader. I got involved in SGA because I wanted to make a difference beyond the classroom. I hope to continue to graduate school and become involved in our state government.

Organizations: Student Government Association (SGA), Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (O.I.L.)
Hobbies: Reading, watching movies (collector of both), antique/flea markets hunter, finding a bargain, road trips, organizing, and almost anything government related.
Goals: My goal is to use my experience in SGA and other government activities to teach people they have the power to do things for the common good. One does not have to be a government major to join SGA or to make a difference. I plan to show people that a diversity of students brought into government can make a huge difference in how we live. Government is my career, compassion is my calling!

Organizations: Student Government Association, Honors Program
Hobbies: Reading, running, piano, hanging out with friends, attempting to paint, scrapbooking, listening to music
Goals: Because making sure the students' ideas are heard and acted upon is such a vital aspect in running the government, I want to make sure that there is a definitive link between the students and SGA. My goal is to make sure this link is strong so that SGA can help make this campus a place what we all want it to be, not just a few select people. I hope to be the liaison between the two so that we can make the students' ideas a reality by working together. I also want to show that student government is not an intimidating or threatening entity; it is simply a group of students just like you who are trying to make a difference by implementing ideas that will make this campus an even greater place to learn, work, and/or live.

Organizations: SGA, OIL and the RSU Hillpost
Hobbies: Cooking Knitting, Blogging, exploring abandoned places, working with OATH to raise awareness of human trafficking through the arts.
Goals: As a non-traditional student finishing my degree while taking care of an active family my goal in being part of SGA is to bring my perspective and creativity to the leadership mix because I believe in the value of life experience.  I believe that participation in SGA provides a valuable education in leadership, teamwork and productivity. I hope to encourage other students to take advantage of the opportunities SGA involvement provides during their time at RSU.

Goals: My goal is to find a career pertaining to something with government. I find the state legislature interesting, the courts, and practicing law. Whatever I do, I want to be helping people and making a difference in their lives. In SGA, I want to help with anything that I possibly can and reach out to students who have concerns about things in their classes and on campus. Being a part of SGA is something special! Everyone, even when there are disagreements, usually wants to work for the greater good of the student body and the University as a whole.
