Getting Started in WebCT 

PLEASE NOTE: Access will be granted the day classes begin for a given semester.  All previous accounts in the eCollege system will be changed to the format described below. All passwords will be reset back to the birth date after each semester - your user id will not change. You will not have continued access between semesters.

Access WebCT

Before logging into WebCT, it is very important that you use a compatible browser and configure your browser settings to work effectively with WebCT. Please see technical requirements at the WebCT support portal.

Students can access their WebCT course at http://webct.rsu.edu.

Log in to WebCT

The user id for a student is composed of the characters sd followed by the student's first name and last name. If there are duplicates (another student has the same first name and last name), the user id is composed of the characters sd followed by the student's first name and last name followed by a number.

• Example1: Joe Smith would have an id of sdjoesmith  
• Example2: If there is more than one person named Joe Smith, then one of them will have an id of sdjoesmith, another will have id sdjoesmith2, another will have id sdjoesmith3
• Each student's password is his/her birthday: mmddyyyy (Note: password must be 8 characters)

• Upon logging in, you will see a list of all courses in which you have access to. Please note: Course list may not reflect all courses you are currently enrolled in - only those using WebCT.
• You will need to change your password upon entering the course.  To do this, click on the “Password Settings” button.

• You will be required to enter your existing password, enter a new password and confirm the new password.
• Passwords may be reset after showing identity, through the Center for Teaching and Learning, HS 248, 343-7703.
