RSU To Provide Housing for Students and Their Families

A historic dormitory will be renovated to accommodate students and their families at Rogers State University.

Ledbetter Hall, which housed cadets of the former Oklahoma Military Academy, will be renovated to serve as housing units for RSU students, their spouses and their children.

A low bid of $239,200 submitted by Brown Construction Co. of Tulsa to renovate the facility was approved by the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents – the governing board for RSU – at its meeting on Wednesday.

Eighteen units in Ledbetter Hall will be renovated for students and their families. Jim Graber, architect with Imel and Graber of Tulsa, coordinated the design of the renovation projects. The projects should be completed in spring 2004.

Ledbetter Hall, which is adjacent to the west side of Herrington Hall, was named for Col. Homer H. Ledbetter, a former president of OMA.

The facility served as a residence hall for single students until RSU completed its new student apartment complex in fall 2001.

In addition, the OU Board of Regents approved a low bid of $334,537 submitted by Accell Construction Co. of Claremore to construct a parking lot between the Student Union and Baird Hall to accommodate increasing enrollment on the Claremore campus.
