RSU to Exhibit Art by Emerging High School Artists

Art by emerging artists from high schools across northeast Oklahoma will be featured in an exhibition March 9-30 at Rogers State University.

The annual High School Portfolio Art Competition and Exhibition and will be held at Foundations Gallery, located in Baird Hall on the RSU campus in Claremore.

The exhibition will include drawings, paintings, and sculptures by high school seniors from across northeast Oklahoma, and high school students enrolled concurrently at RSU.

Faculty members from the RSU Department of Communication and Fine Arts and a representative from the RSU Student Art Association chose the work to be included in the exhibition. Emily Main, a ceramicist from Tulsa, will judge the entries admitted to the competition and select the award recipients, who will receive scholarships to attend RSU in the fall.

The award recipients will be announced at an opening reception for the exhibition from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the gallery.

RSU offers a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts as well as associate’s degrees in art and liberal arts with major options in fine arts, graphics and art history.

Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
