RSU Scholarship Auction to ‘Saddle Up’ on Thursday

The upcoming Rogers State University Foundation Scholarship Auction and Dinner will offer patrons the opportunity to “Saddle Up For Scholarships” to benefit university students.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 on the lawn of the RSU Claremore campus. The western-themed event will feature live and silent auctions, dinner provided by Billy Sims BBQ and musical entertainment from Camille and Haley Harris.

There are a number of great items available for both the live and silent auction. Some highlights of the live auction include a guided fishing trip at Vermeijo Ranch; two courtside tickets to one Oklahoma City Thunder regular season game; one week in a two-bedroom condo at the Hyatt Mountain Lodge in Avon, Colorado; a child’s playhouse; a Tom James suit or sport coat and slacks, up to $1,000 value; a North Carolina sailing trip for two, including airfare to Raleigh; and a 2014 Sugar Bowl football signed by University of Oklahoma football legends Billy Sims, Jason White, Steve Owens and Barry Switzer.

The silent auction will feature a wide variety of items including a custom fly fishing rod, a five-piece outdoor patio furniture set, diamond stud earrings, a Primo Grill, gift certificates from area boutiques, restaurants and businesses and many more outstanding items.

In addition to the auction items, there will be a raffle for a chance to win a 2014 Ford Mustang, which was anonymously contributed by an RSU Foundation Board member and her husband. Only 500 tickets, to be sold at $100 each, will be available for a chance at winning the car that has a $25,485 sticker price. The winning ticket will be drawn during the scholarship auction and the winner does not need to be present to win.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to fund RSU scholarships for students at the Bartlesville, Claremore and Pryor campuses.

Throughout the past 10 years, the auction has helped raise nearly $500,000 for scholarships that would not be possible without continued support from area businesses, industries and individual sponsors.
