RSU Public TV to Premiere Game Show Featuring Area High Schools

RSU Public Television will broadcast the premier of the brand new, locally produced game show series “I Want Answers!” beginning Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 8:00 p.m.

“The show highlights Green Country schools and communities, and enhances relationships between RSU, area high schools and surrounding communities,” said Dan Schiedel, general manager of RSU Public Television.

In an effort to create an innovative, fun and challenging competition for Northeast Oklahoma high school students, “I Want Answers!” is a weekly half-hour game show that showcases the academic prowess of Green Country high school students. But this isn’t your typical game show. “I Want Answers!” brings odd challenges that highlight everything from a student’s singing and dancing skills, to ability to do complex math equations, spell words backwards, and other tricky physical and mental tasks.

“With the creation of ‘I Want Answers!’ we hope to not only broaden our viewership, but also bring education in Green Country to the forefront,” said John Pruner, producer for RSU Public TV. “It seems that in these tough economic times, education has taken the backseat. We can’t allow that to happen.”

Sixteen schools were chosen from the submission pool via a random lottery to ensure every school had an equal opportunity to participate. Those chosen include high schools from Bartlesville, Bixby, Broken Arrow, Claremore, Collinsville, Copan, Coweta, Porter, Ft. Gibson, Locust Grove, Sapulpa, and Wyandotte. Also, Booker T. Washington, East Central, and Union from Tulsa and Caney Valley from Ramona were selected.

The academic teams of Caney Valley and Porter are the first to go head to head on “I Want Answers!” airing Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 8:00 p.m.

RSU Public Television is licensed to Rogers State University and is the only public TV station operated by a university in Oklahoma. The station, based on the RSU campus in Claremore, reaches more than one million people within a 75-mile radius of the campus.

RSU Public Television broadcasts on digital channel 35.1 and 35.2, Tulsa and Claremore cable channel 19, cable channel 4 in Bartlesville and satellite channel 35 across northeastern Oklahoma.
