RSU Public TV, This Land Press Partner to Broadcast ‘This Land TV’

The Oklahoma-focused series “This Land TV” comes to Rogers State University Public Television starting in May, thanks to a partnership between the two regional media entities.

The station will broadcast the first episode of “This Land TV” at 9 a.m., Sunday, May 12, with the episode repeating at 10:30 p.m. Sunday night and at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.  The remaining 10 episodes will air according to the same schedule. “This Land TV” will air on the station’s primary 35.1 channel in HD.

RSU Public TV broadcasts via DISH, DirectTV and UHF Channel 35 and is carried on 76 cable systems throughout Northeastern Oklahoma, including Cox Cable Channel 109 (35.1) and 110 (35.2) in Tulsa and Claremore.

“This Land TV” was created and produced by the Tulsa-based new media company This Land Press, founded by editor Michael Mason with Vincent LoVoi serving as publisher. This Land Press has gained national attention from publications such as The New York Times, The Paris Review and Columbia Journalism Review for its unique brand of literary journalism focused on telling the story of Oklahoma, with the aim of broadening our understanding of life and culture in the state.

“We are proud to partner with Rogers State University Public Television,” said LoVoi. “What we are confident station viewers will find is that This Land Press is more than just a wonderful television show: It’s a magazine, a radio program, a guide to Oklahoma events, places, history, and more. We hope our partnership grows so that the RSU-TV and This Land communities can learn from each other.”

The “This Land TV” series runs the storytelling gamut, from a Muslim-owned burger joint to the legacy of Woody Guthrie. The series features renowned guests such as Wayne Coyne, Wes Studi and Roseanne Cash, alongside Oklahomans whose names may be lesser known but still provide insight to the state’s culture and history.

This spring, This Land Press News Editor Holly Wall will be a featured commentator on the station’s news show, “OK News Analysis.” Mason and LoVoi will be the guests on the upcoming episode of RSU Public TV’s in-depth interview show, “Green County Perspectives with Sam Jones.” The episode will debut at 9 p.m., Friday, May 10.

The broadcast partnership between RSU Public TV and This Land Press represents an ongoing collaboration between two local media organizations focused on serving Oklahomans and will expand the reach of both organizations, said Royal Aills, general manager for RSU Public TV.

RSU Public TV is the only full-powered public television station licensed to a public university in Oklahoma. RSU Public TV provides educational, cultural and general interest programming to an audience of 1.3 million viewers in northeastern Oklahoma, and the Tulsa metropolitan area.
