RSU Public Television Launches ‘Green Country Perspectives’

Rogers State University Public Television recently announced that veteran television broadcaster Sam Jones will host its local television series, “Green Country Perspectives with Sam Jones.”

The second season of RSU Public Television’s weekly news talk show begins Friday. Previously called “Perspectives,” the 30-minute program will air at 8:30 p.m. each Friday on RSU Public Television, which can be found on UHF channel 35, Cox cable channel 19 and satellite channel 35. The program will be repeated at 6:30 p.m. on Sundays and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Jones brings more than 30 years of broadcast experience to Claremore and many will recognize him from his years on KOTV and KJRH in Tulsa. He worked as the co-anchor for KJRH’s nightly news from 1981 to 1986.

“The shows we have taped so far have been wonderful, many people do not realize how much is going on at RSU Public Television,” Jones said. “It is a pleasure to work with such a great staff.”

The first show will feature Jones’ interview with Marcello Angelini, artistic director for the Tulsa Ballet, as they discuss the 50-year history of the Tulsa Ballet and Marcello’s career as a dancer, choreographer and artistic director.

Future shows will cover topics including literacy, Native American health care and upcoming cultural events.

“I hope that viewers throughout northeastern Oklahoma will tune in and sample the new season of Green Country Perspectives with Sam Jones. I believe they will see that our new host brings an engaging personality and diverse style to the show,” said Dan Schiedel, general manager of RSU Public TV. “We look forward to highlighting issues and topics important to viewers.”

The station, based on RSU’s Claremore campus, reaches about 1.2 million people within a 75-mile radius of the campus and is Oklahoma’s only full-powered television station operated by a public university.
