Rogers State University is one of 16 universities in the nation – and the only university in Oklahoma – to be selected as a distance education partner in the U.S. Navy College Program.
Sailors and leadership personnel of the Navy reviewed the academic programs and proposals of numerous institutions across the nation and recently selected its first university partners in the Navy College Program (NCP).
RSU was selected for the program along with institutions such as Florida State University, George Washington University and Old Dominion University.
“We are very proud and honored to provide our high-quality online educational programs to Navy personnel,” said RSU President Dr. Joe Wiley.
The selected universities will provide university degrees and classes to Navy personnel and their families stationed around the world via distance learning programs.
Navy personnel and their families around the world may pursue three bachelor’s degrees, four associate’s degrees, and a variety of classes from RSU entirely via the Internet.
“This is just the beginning,” said Ileen Rogers, Director of Navy Voluntary Education Requirements and Policy. “These initial partnerships serve as a hub from which will extend numerous pathways to degree completion and the achievement of a life-long goal.”
RSU recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Navy to provide education programs.
RSU officials met with Navy personnel over the past year to discuss the educational partnership. Several Navy personnel are already enrolled in one of RSU’s online programs.
RSU offers three new bachelor’s degrees completely on the Internet through its innovative RSU Online program. Students may complete bachelor’s degrees in Business Information Technology, Applied Technology, and Liberal Arts entirely online. RSU Online also offers four two-year associate’s degrees in Applied Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science and Liberal Arts, and more than 50 classes each semester on the Internet.
RSU is one of the nation’s leaders in distance learning. RSU was the first university in Oklahoma to offer bachelor’s and associate’s degrees entirely via the Internet.
