Dr. Mary A. Millikin has been named assistant vice president for accountability and academics at Rogers State University.
Her appointment was approved by the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, the governing board for RSU, at its meeting in Ardmore on June 20.
Currently, Millikin serves as director of planning and institutional research at Tulsa Community College. She will begin her duties at RSU on July 1.
“Dr. Millikin has a significant level of insight and experience in the assessment and advancement of student learning, as well as accreditation of higher education,” said Dr. Larry Rice, RSU president. “These are key areas of focus for RSU in the next few years and we look forward to her contributions.”
Previously, Millikin worked as director of institutional assessment and research at Oklahoma State University – Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2006. She also has served as a research consultant for the University of West Florida, the University of Tulsa and public school systems in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Jenks and Broken Arrow.
In addition, she worked as director of communications and education at Family and Children’s Services of Tulsa. She also worked as an industrial engineer at Rockwell International, Hilti, Inc. and Braden Steel, Inc.
At TCC, she has served on the College Strategic Planning Team and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Strategic Planning Team, and was chairperson of the TCC Strategic Reporting Team. She also serves on the College Compliance Council, Data Standards Team, Academic Affairs Council and Accreditation Committee at TCC.
She served on several strategic planning and accreditation teams at the OSU Institute of Technology at Okmulgee.
She has conducted extensive research and written technical reports in a wide variety of academic areas including student assessment and success, accreditation, development of nursing programs, and educational partnership grants, among other areas.
She has written several articles for academic journals on topics such as leadership development programs, student success and adult and developmental education.
She received a doctoral degree in industrial-organizational psychology and an MBA with an emphasis in management from TU and a bachelor of science in engineering physics with a minor in mathematics from Missouri State University.
