RSU Art Professor’s Work to Represent Oklahoma in Midwest Invitational Exhibition

Chair with pattern designed by art professor.The artwork of Rogers State University Associate Professor Denny Schmickle has been chosen to represent Oklahoma at the biennial Midwest Invitational Exhibition in Springfield, Missouri.

The show is called “Four by Four” and is intended to recognize and encourage artists working in all media who reside in the four-state region of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. One artist is chosen to represent each state.

Wallpaper designed by art professor.Schmickle is exhibiting three new hand-printed silkscreen wallpaper patterns, as well as furniture and animations.

The exhibition is open now through March 15 at the Springfield Art Museum. Schmickle is scheduled to give a gallery talk on Saturday, February 21 at 2 p.m.

Schmickle serves as Department Head and Associate Professor of Fine Arts at RSU. He joined the RSU faculty in 2006. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Nebraska and a Bachelor of Science degree from College of the Ozarks.
