Rogers State University and New Mexico Military Institute have announced a partnership allowing students who earn an associate's degree from NMMI to seamlessly transfer into RSU bachelor's degree program.

The two schools on April 23 signed an articulation agreement allowing NMMI students who earn an associate's degree to transfer to RSU.

"RSU and NMMI are working closely to provide students a seamless transition into a bachelor's degree program," said RSU President Dr. Larry Rice. "In effect, this will allow students to begin working on their bachelor's degree while enrolled at NMMI."

Major General Jerry Grizzle, a Tulsa native who serves as superintendent of NMMI, said the agreement is a natural fit for the school, which is the nation's only state-supported co-educational college preparatory high school and junior college in the United States. NMMI enrolls about 1,000 students from 43 states and 13 countries at its Roswell campus.

"Rogers State possesses the same standards for excellence we have at NMMI," said Grizzle. "I believe this partnership between like-minded institutions will be a benefit to our students."

Rice noted that there are many similarities between NMMI and the Oklahoma Military Academy, which is one of RSU's predecessor institutions. The university developed from the strong framework provided by the military academy, and today RSU is a regional four-year university offering associate, bachelor's and graduate degree programs.
