Winter Music Concert Set for Nov. 25
The Rogers State University Music Program will present its annual winter concert on Monday, Nov. 25, featuring the Jazz Ensemble and the University Choir.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Will Rogers Auditorium on the RSU campus in Claremore. Canned food donations to benefit the RSU "Food for Thought" food pantry will be accepted for admission.
The Jazz Ensemble will be performing holiday-themed works, including "Autumn Leaves," which is among the best known jazz standards, and "Christmas Time is Here" that was made popular by Vince Guaraldi as part of the music for Charlie Brown specials. Other works performed will include "Baby, It's Cold Outside," "Hot Chocolate!" from "The Polar Express" and "A Big Band Christmas II," a medley of holiday tunes arranged in a mix of jazz styles.
The Jazz Ensemble will close its performance with the traditional spiritual, "Go Tell It on the Mountain."
The RSU University Choir is scheduled to perform traditional pieces, including "Festive Processional," "Festival Sanctus," "The Prayer," "Carol of the Bells," "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!" "Jingle Bell Rock," "Grinch" and "Holiday Sing-along."
