RSU Radio Launches New Web Site with ‘Now Playing' Feature

RSU Radio, the radio station at Rogers State University, has launched a new web site that features local music and entertainment news, a "now playing" window and plans for more features in the next few months.

The new web site, which can be found at www.rsuradio.com, includes listener-requested features such as the "now playing" window, which shows the current song and artist on the air and an archived play list.

The station's staff plans to expand the site to provide fans an enhanced listening experience for both specialty programs and sports broadcasts such as Claremore Zebra Football, said Cathy Coomer, general manager.

A majority of the content on the new site was created by student staff members, she said.

"We are always looking for innovative ways to teach students about media convergence," Coomer said. "We plan to incorporate the web site into a number of different assignments within the university's communications department."

The site was developed by recent RSU graduate Richard Cagle as part of his senior capstone project. Cagle now serves as the site's webmaster.

"We took a look at what multiple media outlets provide online," said Steve Doyle, RSU Radio operations manager. "The idea is to give students experience creating online content while giving listeners what they've been asking for."

RSURadio.com also includes links to the station's social media sites and online audio stream as well as DJ and staff profiles. Local business owners are encouraged to contact the station at 918-343-7669 or requestline@rsu.edu for information on underwriting space available on the web site.

RSU Radio is a primarily student- run radio station on the RSU campus in Claremore. The station went on the air in 1980 and continues to operate year-round, 24 hours a day. The station is licensed as KRSC and can be found at 91.3 FM.
