Cherokee Data Solutions Founder to Speak at RSU Nov. 16
Rogers State University will commemorate Global Entrepreneurship Week with a presentation on Tuesday, Nov. 16, by Pamela Huddleston Bickford, founder of Cherokee Data Solutions.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 11 a.m. in Room 149 of Herrington Hall on the RSU campus in Claremore. The event will be presented by the RSU Innovation Center.
In 2001, Huddleston Bickford founded Global Native Supply, a company headquartered in Claremore that provides information technology products, promotional tools, Native art and other products manufactured by Native artists, as well as other business solutions.
The company has received national attention from major distributors, leading business strategists, tribal leaders, best-of-breed manufacturers and economic development organizations.
She has been featured in numerous industry publications and was recently named the first person in Oklahoma to be named the National Minority Supplier Development Council Supplier of the Year.
"Entrepreneurship is the key to economic recovery and growth. The next generation holds that key," said Dr. Ray Brown, RSU vice president of economic and community development. "Now more than ever, we need to unleash the creativity and ingenuity of our young people by engaging them in the endless possibilities of entrepreneurship. We are pleased to offer our students and members of the community the opportunity to learn more about entrepreneurship through this special event."
During the week of Nov. 15-19, nations around the world will join together to carry the banner of Global Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative created to inspire, connect, inform, mentor and engage the next generation of entrepreneurs, Brown said.
A luncheon in the Herrington Hall Commons Area will follow the presentation. The luncheon is free for the first 78 people who register to attend. Those who are interested in attending the presentation and luncheon are encouraged to RSVP by contacting Lynn Wilson at (918) 343-7533 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
