RSU Public Television Program to Feature RSU President and Former Ambassador
Former U.S. Congressman and Ambassador to Mexico James R. Jones and Rogers State University President Larry Rice will appear as guests in December on "Perspectives," the locally produced community affairs program on RSU Public Television.
Ambassador Jones will appear on "Perspectives" at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11; 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13; and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16.
President Rice will be featured on the program at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18; 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20; and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23.
"Perspectives" is hosted by Sam Jones, long-time Tulsa journalist and television personality.
Ambassador Jones recently provided the tenth annual Maurice Meyer Distinguished Endowed Lecture on the RSU campus in Claremore.
Jones represented Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1973 to 1987. As a Congressman, he was Chairman of the House Budget Committee and a ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee, where he was active in tax, international trade, Social Security and health care policy. He was Chairman and CEO of the American Stock Exchange in New York from 1989-1993. He served as U.S. Ambassador to Mexico from 1993 to 1997. Jones currently provides business development advice and consulting for clients primarily in Mexico and Latin America.
Dr. Rice is the 14th president of RSU and has more than 30 years of experience in higher education. He began his academic career as a faculty member at Rogers State College in 1979. He received a doctoral degree in education from Oklahoma State University, and master's and bachelor's degrees from Northeastern State University. Before he was named president of RSU, he served as Executive Assistant to the President at the University of Tulsa. He served the citizens of Oklahoma as a state representative in House District 8 from 1986 to 2004. He has received many awards for his public service and commitment to higher education.
