RSU Names First Recipient of Pixley Faculty Excellence Award

Dr. Min Soe, a physicist who conducts extensive research into the formulation of efficient numerical techniques for turbulence and large-scale computing, has been named the 2006 recipient of the Pixley Endowment for Excellence in Education Award at Rogers State University.

The Pixley award is the highest honor bestowed upon a member of the RSU faculty. The award is based on excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. The recipient is selected based on a peer nomination and review process, conducted by the RSU faculty body.

Dr. Soe is an associate professor of physics and mathematics in the RSU School of Mathematics, Science and Health Sciences. He teaches classes at the RSU campuses in Claremore and Bartlesville.

Previously, Soe served as assistant professor of physics and mathematics at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He also has served on the faculty of Hampton University in Virginia.

He has written several articles for scholarly publications including the Physical Reviews, Journal of Computational Physics and Journal of Plasma Physics. He also has presented several publications on physics and mathematics at national and international conferences.  

He received a doctoral degree in physics from the College of William and Mary, two master's degrees in physics and mathematics from Hampton University and a bachelor's degree in physics from Rangoon University in Burma.
