RSU Baseball Club Slates Fall Schedule

The Rogers State University Baseball Club has announced eight dates for its fall schedule, including four home games in Claremore.

Games will begin Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

RSU has established a baseball club in order to provide additional extra-curricular activities for students, promote physical fitness and provide a forum for building teamwork and other interpersonal skills outside the classroom, said RSU President Dr. Joe Wiley. The club has 27 members who are coached by Ron Bradley, RSU's physical education director.

A home scrimmage against Connors State College is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sept. 8. The first home game will be Sept. 11 when the club will host Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader. On Sept. 15, the club will host a 2 p.m. doubleheader against St. Gregory's University, with a doubleheader against Labette Community College at 2 p.m. on Sept. 16. The final home game will be Sept. 19 with a 1:30 p.m. doubleheader against the Spivey All-Stars, which is a traveling team comprised of Oklahoma high school all-stars.

All home games will be played at the American Legion Park, located at Blue Starr Dr. and Sioux Ave. in Claremore. The games are free and open to the public.

On Sept. 23, the club will travel to Northern Oklahoma College in Enid to play a 3 p.m. doubleheader. The club will play Sept. 26 in Oologah against Independence Community College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader. The club's final competition this fall will be participating in the Northeastern State University Fall Classic in Tahlequah.

A more extensive schedule is planned for the spring semester with games tentatively planned with Labette, NSU, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Hillsdale Free Will Baptist, NEO, Southern Nazarene University, Carl Albert State College, Tabor College, NOC-Enid, the University of Texas-Tyler, Coffeyville Community College and the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Bradley is a member of the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. He led four teams to win state baseball championships while at Claremore, Jenks and West Fork (Ark.) high schools. Aaron Gentry and Wes Vrska, both of Claremore, are serving as volunteer assistant coaches handling infield and pitching responsibilities, respectively.
