OU Regents Authorize RSU To Select Architect for Performing Arts Center

The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents has authorized Rogers State University to select an architectural firm to develop plans for a new performing arts center on the RSU campus in Claremore.

The OU board of regents, the governing board for RSU, granted approval to the university to negotiate a fee and terms of an agreement with an architect to develop preliminary drawings for the performing arts center.

After a screening process, the university's architect selection committee, which is made up of RSU staff and community members, screened proposals from 26 architectural firms. The committee designated the top five firms that met the university's requirements for the project. Then the committee ranked the top five firms based on a variety of criteria, including experience with similar projects, firm qualifications and proposed designs for the facility.

The regents' action on Monday will allow RSU to select one of the top five firms to develop plans and drawings for the project.

Funding for the performing arts center has not been designated, although the university anticipates a combination of public and private funding for the facility, said RSU President Dr. Joe Wiley.
