RSU Honor Society To Sponsor Health Week April 21-25 

Rogers State University's Phi Theta Kappa honor society will be sponsoring a health week on campus April 21-25 to promote healthy lifestyle choices.

The week's events will culminate during a banquet on Friday, April 25, which will also feature its announcement of RSU's Professor of the Year and installation of the club's new officers. Phi Theta Kappa is one of the nation's premier academic honor societies for students enrolled in associate's degree programs.

Events scheduled for the week include:

Monday, April 21 - Fruit & Flyer Handout, 9:45-11:15 a.m., at the Student Union deck. Students from Phi Theta Kappa will distribute fruit and informational flyers to students, faculty and staff.

Tuesday, April 22 - Water Handout & Drawing, 10 a.m. to noon, on the lawn south of Will Rogers Auditorium. Students will distribute water to students and hold a drawing for two one-month memberships at the Claremore Recreation Center.

Wednesday, April 23 - Healthy Fast Food, 9:45 a.m. to noon, at the Student Union. Restaurant representatives will distribute information and coupons about healthy options when eating at fast food restaurants.

Thursday, April 24 Obstacle Course, 9:45 a.m. to noon, at Soldier's Field. The club is sponsoring an obstacle course, which is being held in conjunction with RSU's annual Spring Fling celebration marking the end of the school year.

Friday, April 25 - Health Banquet, 6 to 7 p.m., Post Hall. Tickets: $12, or groups of two or more for $10 each. The guest speaker will be George Ann Daniels, an instructor with RSU's Department of Health Sciences. The PTK induction ceremony will feature comments from RSU President Dr. Joe Wiley, the announcement of RSU's Professor of the Year and installation of new officers. Phi Theta Kappa has recognized academic excellence at community colleges since 1918 and has become one of the largest and most prestigious honor societies in higher education.
