RSU To Offer Criminal Justice Career Fair April 17
Representatives from law enforcement agencies will be available to speak with members of the public about careers in criminal justice and public safety at a career day on Wednesday, April 17, at Rogers State University.
The annual RSU Criminal Justice and Public Safety Career Fair, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Post Hall on RSU's campus in Claremore.
Students from area high schools, vocational-technical schools and colleges and universities, as well as the general public, are invited to attend the career fair, according to Scott Chambless, coordinator of RSU's programs in criminal justice and police science.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who is considering a career in criminal justice or public safety to learn more about requirements to enter the field and daily life in law enforcement," Chambless said.
RSU offers a two-year associate of arts (A.A.) degree in law/justice careers with a criminal justice option and associate of applied science degrees (A.A.S.) with options in law enforcement and the Collegiate Officer Program (COPS), which offers a college education and police academy training in one two-year degree.
Representatives from several municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies will be present at the career fair, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Kansas Highway Patrol and police departments from Tulsa, Bartlesville, Bixby, Midwest City, Norman, Ponca City, Joplin, Mo., and Topeka, Kan.
Also represented at the fair will be the Claremore Fire Department, FBI, Oklahoma Department of Corrections, Pinkerton-Burns Security, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife, Tulsa County Sheriff's Department, U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy, the U.S. Secret Service, and the Wackenhut Corp., among others.
