RSU Names Director of Distance Education
Dr. Peter Williams has been named Director of Distance Education at Rogers State University.
Williams will provide leadership to RSU's distance education program, which includes degrees offered via the Internet, and classes offered online, on television, and via compressed video to the university's branch campuses in Bartlesville and Pryor.
Previously, Williams was Coordinator of Online Programs for the Center for Distance Learning Research at Texas A&M University, where he developed training programs in web course delivery for faculty and staff, including the Virtual Instructor Certification Program. In that position, he has worked with the faculties of numerous colleges and universities in the development of distance learning initiatives.
In addition, Williams has served as Coordinator of Instructional Technology for the Windham School District in Huntsville, Texas, where he coordinated distance learning, videoconferencing to various campuses, and web page development. He also has served as an academic dean at the Baxter Institute in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and as an instructor in schools in Abilene, Texas and Tegucigalpa.
He has made presentations at regional and national conferences. His presentation on distance learning at the Distance Learning Administration 2000 Conference received the Best Paper Award.
He received a doctoral degree from Texas A&M University, a master's degree from Abilene Christian University and a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University.
