Business Assistance

The professional staff at RSU’s Innovation Center have the expertise to assist you in staring or expanding your business. Studies have shown that 80 percent of businesses fail within the first five years. One of the Center's goals is to improve your odds of having a successful business. We can help you avoid and overcome the pitfalls by:

  • Determining your personal/professional aptitude for small business ownership.
  • Developing an effective business plan and showing you how to best utilize it for the long-term health of your business venture.
  • Providing information about funding sources and issues including equity, debt, venture capital, and angel financing.
  • Helping clients find and use data for business or marketing plans.

Assistance is available by meeting one-on-one with our staff. There is a one-time fee of $100 to all new clients which includes unlimited assistance and access to the Center’s resources such as market research databases, decision making tools, business planning tools and resources and competitive intelligence information.

Startup WheelStartupWheel®

StartupWheel® helps entrepreneurs focus, set agendas, and take the next step. The Center’s professional staff is certified to use this new tool for helping start-ups and growth companies make decisions. The wheel breaks business management activities into 4 main areas.

  • Business Concept
  • Customer Relations
  • Organization
  • Operations

Within each area are resources available to set an agenda, provide focus and ultimately help make better decisions. The toolbox contains informational articles, frameworks for business concepts and over 100 customized worksheets.  The worksheets contain graphic checklists to quickly understand alternative options and get ideas for new ones.

When you make an appointment with the Innovation Center’s staff, they will walk you through the toolbox and ensure you have everything you need to help you start and succeed in your business venture.
