Alpha Sigma Alpha (ΑΣΑ)
Alpha Sigma Alpha is a women's organization that exists to promote high ideals and standards for its members throughout their lives by emphasizing balance among the four aims of intellectual, physical, spiritual and social development.
Alpha Sigma Alpha provides structure and guidance through:
Membership in Alpha Sigma Alpha offers vast opportunities to make a difference through leadership. Members develop leadership skills which are ultimately advantageous in the work place.
There are numerous opportunities to hold an elected or appointed office, chair and serve on committees and attend leadership schools, officer academies or national conventions
Through the committee system of leadership, members can practice leadership skills, be involved in the day-to-day operations of the chapter, and assist in decision-making even if they do not hold an office.
Intellectual development is one of the four aims of Alpha Sigma Alpha. Our members are challenged to strive for their best intellectual development through setting high academic goals, regular classroom attendance and class participation. Chapters focus on academic achievement through:
One of Alpha Sigma Alpha's national philanthropies remains important to our members long after they graduate. Each year, the Special Olympics touches lives in hundreds of communities across the nation and around the world, and each year hundreds of Alpha Sigma Alpha members make a difference to this important organization.
S. June Smith Center
Our members also contribute their time and talents to the S. June Smith Center, a private non-profit agency providing early identification, education, training and therapy to infants and children in Lancaster County, PA with developmental disabilities and delays. Your chapter or alumnae chapter may have adopted this important organization as its beneficiary, or it may have chosen to assist local agencies and organizations that make a difference in the lives of mentally challenged people in your area.
