Dr.
William D. Hart has an academic background in nutrition, public health,
and gerontology. He has conducted a wide range of research in health and
nutrition, including the effects of gender and ethnicity on the
nutrition of elderly residents of southwestern Louisiana, the effects of
body weight on mortality and the quality of life in AIDS patients. Prior
to joining RSU, he served as associate professor in the Department of
Nutrition and Dietetics at St. Louis University, where he has taught
since 1991. He also has served on the faculties of Texas Woman’s
University in Houston and Wayne State University in Detroit. Hart
received a doctoral degree in human nutrition from Michigan State
University, completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of
Texas, and received a master’s degree in public health from the
University of Texas, a master’s degree in biochemistry from Michigan
State University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Luther
College in Decorah, Iowa.
