Bio Sketch

JOHN P. SAMPLE

Mr. John P. Sample has been a member of the faculty at Rogers University at Claremore since 1982. He received a B.A.E. from Wichita State University and a M.S. from Northeastern State University, with additional courses from Wichita State and the American Military University.

Mr. Sample is a former Army officer, with service as an Infantry and Counterintelligence advisor with South Vietnamese troops in the field and as a counterintelligence operative and member of the General Staff of the United States Army South in Latin America. After leaving the Army, he joined the international Division of the Coleman Company, where he acted as the Sales Administrator for Latin America and the Caribbean. He is also a Civil War Re-enactor, currently serving as the commander of the Frontier Brigade (which is comprised of units from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri) and Faculty Advisor of the Civil War reenacting unit located on the Claremore campus, Company B of the 15th Missouri Infantry.

While at Rogers University, Mr. Sample has taught History, English, and Spanish. He has helped develop a telecourse for English Composition I, and has developed a U.S. History to 1865 course, which he is offering over the Internet. He has also developed an upper division course on the Civil War. He is a much-requested speaker throughout the area on various subjects, most notably the Civil War. In addition, he has been a member of the Academic Policies Committee since its inception, served several terms as a member of the Faculty Senate, and is the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee.
