Dr. Hugh Foley received a doctoral degree in English from Oklahoma State
University, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in English from New York
University. His primary areas of scholarship are American studies with
an emphasis on Oklahoma music and culture, Native American studies, and
cinema. Author of the Oklahoma
Music Guide, he has been published in numerous encyclopedias and
books, and his video compilations on Native American music and culture
have been shown at national conferences and on public television in
several states. Involved actively with radio broadcasting since 1977, he
serves as a faculty consultant to the campus radio station, RSU Radio.
In his role as faculty advisor for the RSU Native American Student Association,
he produces the annual RSU Native American Heritage Festival and the RSU
Graduation Honor Powwow. Among several volunteer civic activities, Foley is a founding board member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and
Museum, currently serving as the chair of the induction selection
committee.
