Dr. Frank W. Elwell received a Ph.D. in
sociology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany,
master’s degrees from SUNY-Albany (sociology) and SUNY-New
Paltz (political science/education), and a
bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University
(history/education). He is the
author of the books A Commentary on Malthus’ 1798 Essay on
Population as Social Theory (Lewiston, NY: Edwin Mellen
Press, 2001), The
Evolution of the Future (Westport, Connecticut: Praeger Press,
1991) and Industrializing America: Understanding
Contemporary Society through Classical Sociological Analysis
(Westport,
Connecticut: Praeger
Press, 1999). His areas of academic specialty include social
evolution, industrialization, cultural ecology, and social
theory.
