Compare the Salem witch trials discussed in Salem Possessed with the sexual abuse trials treated in No Crueler Tyrannies. 

Your paper should be in the range of three to five pages, double-spaced, 12-point font.

You have considerable freedom in deciding how to approach this paper. You could discuss psycho-social dynamics; government and politics; the development of an intense concern or panic followed by changes of mind and heart; or patterns of accusation and evidence.  You might combine one or more of these themes, or discuss something else that is a recognizable issue or concern in both instances.

Keep in mind that “compare” implies “contrast.”  Be alert for similarities and differences.

How will I evaluate an assignment with such broad parameters?

1.  I will ask myself whether you formulated a manageable topic and whether you addressed it effectively.

2.  I will look for evidence that you mastered key materials in the two books. 

3.  I will ask whether the evidence you introduce is adequate to your purpose and whether your reasoning is sound.

You should be able to write this paper by means of reviewing and integrating work you have already done!
