In General
The first exam occurs on February 23. It covers all the material (assigned
readings and class presentations) in Weeks 1-6. It is worth 100 points out
of 700 in the class.
The exam has two parts. The first part is a
take-home essay due at 8 A.M. on Monday February 23. Detailed
instructions are available on the course website. The essay is worth 50
points. The deadline is the deadline: late work won’t receive credit. The
second part is an in-class test, given in class
on Monday February 23. It is worth 50 points. Instructions
will be posted for this part of the exam. Plan to take it as scheduled.
Make-up exams are normally unavailable in this class.
Please read the instructions carefully and let me know about any questions or
concerns you may have. We can discuss your questions or concerns in class
or during my office hours.
About the Exam
We have covered a lot of material. The instructions for the in-class test
should, however, help you to focus your effort effectively. The exam will
be flexible. It is designed to help you show what you know.
Perfection is not expected. Do as much as you can, as well as you can.
You may bring notes to the in-class test: one sheet of 8.5X11 paper with as much
information as you want, front and back. No other notes or memory-assist
devices of any kind whatsoever are permitted, however. Also: no books!
