BAD WEATHER: WHAT TO DO
Posted January 19. 2007
The University follows a carefully planned schedule each semester. Unfortunately Old Man Weather doesn’t always cooperate with us. Here are answers to some questions you may have.
Are we having classes?
When the University administration determines that it is not safe to hold classes, this information is made available promptly to the public. The University will post current information on its website – look on the right side of the main page under RSUNow. You can also call the University’s main information number at (918) 343-7777. A reliable media source of information is KOTV.
What about Dr. Tait’s class in particular?
Normally I will be there if the University is open. However, I live a long way from the campus, so it’s possible I might be unable to get to school even when the campus is open. You may e-mail me at dtait@rsu.edu to ask what my plans are. Please be sure to include the full name of your class (e.g. Perspectives on Human Behavior or Cultural Warfare) and add the words Weather Question. If I see all that on the subject line, I will read and reply to the message instead of ignoring or deleting it!
What about assignment deadlines?
As you know, assignment deadlines are separate from class times. Assignments are due on time even when the University is closed because of bad weather. Please make every reasonable effort to meet these deadlines.
What if it’s too dangerous to drive?
Even when the campus is open, it may be too dangerous for you to make the journey. Class time is important, but you should not take unnecessary risks. I want to see you in class, not in the hospital or worse. If you can’t make it but can e-mail me, I’d appreciate a word from you.
