Monica Varner received a
doctoral degree in sociology, a master’s degree in applied behavioral
studies in education, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, all from
Oklahoma State University. Her areas of specialization are criminology and
social psychology. Other areas of academic interest include social
integration, social civility, structural ritualization practices,
sociology of sport, sociology of gender (violence towards women), social
inequality (social class), and Native American culture and tribal law. She
previously taught at Northeastern State University, East Central
University in Ada, and Seminole Junior College in Seminole. She also has
worked in the private sector as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
