An academic poster developed by two Rogers State University faculty and a student was recently awarded second place at the Southwest Psychological Association Conference. Psychology faculty Dr. Johnny Mark Kirk and Dr. Kevin Woller, along with student Christopher Shook, entered the poster, "Assessing Self-Determining Attitudes and Behaviors in Drug Court Participants" at the conference held last month in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Hugh Foley, Professor in the Fine Arts Department at Rogers State University, contributed an article for the winter 2013 edition of Oklahoma Humanities Magazine. Dr. Foley's article, "Celebrating Oklahoma Roots Music," introduces the upcoming Smithsonian exhibition, "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music," by sampling the tracks of Oklahoma music. A book, published earlier this year by McFarland and Co. Publishers, was edited by RSU faculty members Emily Dial-Driver, Sally Emmons and James Ford. Six other RSU faculty members and an RSU alumnus wrote essays for the book. "Fantasy Media in the Classroom: Essays on Teaching with Film, Television, Literature, Graphic Novels and Video Games" provides suggestions on how popular culture can be used to expand and enrich an established curriculum.
