Event to be Followed by Dedication of Residence Hall

RSU’s ‘Lunch on the Hill’ Oct. 23

“Lunch on the Hill,” a picnic lunch and public address by Rogers State University President Dr. Joe Wiley, will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, on the lawn of RSU’s residence hall on the Claremore campus. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be sponsored by Reasor’s Food Store.

A free picnic lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. on the lawn north of the residence hall on the west side of the campus. Wiley will provide a “State of the University” address at approximately 12:15 p.m.

Then RSU officials will dedicate the new residence hall during a dedication ceremony. The residence hall, which opened last fall, can accommodate 248 students and features private bedrooms with Internet connections, a swimming pool and outdoor sand volleyball court. Tours of the residence hall will be provided.

Those attending the lunch and dedication ceremony may bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets. Some seating will be provided. In the event of rain, the event will be moved into Post Hall. Parking will be available west of Post Hall and west of the RSU Library.

“We’d like to invite the community to visit our beautiful campus and hear about all the exciting developments at the university,” Wiley said. “I’d also like to give the public an idea of where we’re going in the next few years.”

This fall, RSU has experienced a large enrollment increase. In addition, the university has announced plans to build a $3.7 million library and classroom facility.

The RSU Foundation will host the picnic lunch. For more information, call 343-7773.
