Business Development Specialist

The Business Development Specialist will coordinate counseling services with a team of specialists for start-up and existing businesses on behalf of the Innovation Center at Rogers State University. The Specialist will coordinate and conduct training for area entrepreneurs, businesses, industries and communities; facilitate economic development strategies with communities throughout northeast Oklahoma; market the Innovation Center programs throughout northeast Oklahoma including special programs, incubator and other areas as assigned. The Specialist will also pursue equity-based businesses and licensing agreements for the university.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to interact with entrepreneurs, local business owners, CEO's and managers of businesses and start-up ventures. Successful candidates will have the ability to communicate clearly, learn various industries rapidly and in-depth, and represent the university's economic development role with professionalism. Ideal candidates will have relationships with businesses, manufacturers, communities, and economic development networks within northeast Oklahoma.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business or related field and a minimum of three years' experience as entrepreneur or owner of a successful small business. Successful applicant must have strong understanding of business fundamentals, excellent communication skills, excellent computer skills, and the ability to interact effectively with the public.   

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have a combination of the following: Master's degree in business or related field; experience as successful entrepreneur in manufacturing, technology, information or knowledge-based businesses; strong experience in market research and/or entrepreneurial finance.
