Deadline Extended for RSU High School Art Competition

The deadline to submit entries for the Emerging High School Artist Competition at Rogers State University has been extended due to winter weather.

The RSU Department of Fine Arts will accept entries for the annual competition and exhibition until 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21. Entries may be submitted in Room 120 of Baird Hall. For more information regarding the submission of awards, visit http://www.rsu.edu/academics/fine-arts/high-school.asp.

Award recipients will be announced at a reception from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 in the new art gallery, located in Baird Hall on the RSU campus in Claremore. The public is invited to attend.

The exhibition will be on display in the gallery through Friday, March 11.

“This will be the first year that the high school student art exhibition will be held in our beautiful, spacious new gallery in the recently expanded and renovated Baird Hall,” said Gary Moeller, head of the RSU Department of Fine Arts and coordinator of the exhibition. “We are very excited to show off the new gallery to those in the public who haven’t yet visited.”

The juried exhibition will include drawings, paintings, and sculptures by high school seniors from across northeast Oklahoma, and high school students enrolled concurrently at RSU. Students selected to show their work in the exhibition will receive scholarships to attend RSU in the fall.

Enrollment for the upcoming summer and fall semesters at RSU will begin on Monday, March 28.

RSU offers a bachelor of fine arts degree (B.F.A.) in visual arts with options in graphic design, multimedia, photographic arts and studio art, and minors in studio art, graphic design and art history.
