COMMUNITY

2013 MLK Day of Service

On behalf of the Multicultural Committee, thank you for your support during the MLK Day of Service. Together, the RSU Community had over 60 volunteers sign up for 114 hours serving Rogers County Youth Services, Claremore Veterans Center, William Barnes Child Advocacy Center, and Bit by Bit Equestrian Center.

In the words of Dr. King, "All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence".  Our volunteers all had a positive attitude, and completed projects with pride.

The MLK Day of Service has become an important project at RSU and one of the largest volunteer service projects in the area. Part of RSU's goals is to promote and encourage student, faculty, staff, and community interaction in a positive academic climate that creates opportunities for cultural, intellectual, and personal enrichment for the University and the communities it serves. The MLK Day of Service is a powerful tool by which RSU positively engages with the community to create change and improvement in the area.
