CAC Raises $11,500 in Charity Basketball Game

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The annual William W. Barnes Children's Advocacy Center charity basketball game hosted Sunday at Frank Mobra Gymnasium raised $11,500 for the center.

"This was such a great event for an even better cause. I thoroughly enjoyed playing in the event and seeing so many people from the community in attendance supporting 8704such an incredible organization," said RSU Director of Athletics Chris Ratcliff. "Hopefully everyone in attendance enjoyed the game as much as we enjoyed playing and supporting such an important organization in this community."

The money was raised through ticket sales, a silent auction, raffle for prizes, game program advertisements, and money donated for points to fan-favorite players and/or team on the court.

The annual game featured coaches and administrators from the Rogers State athletic department against Rogers County educator all-stars coached by Kellye Shuck, Principal at Catalayah Elementary. The Rogers County Educator All-Stars came away with the victory on the hardwood but the Children's Advocacy Center was the real winner with another successful fundraiser.

The William W. Barnes Children's Advocacy Center of Claremore is a non-profit, United Way Agency, whose mission is to reduce the trauma of child abuse. The Center provides forensic interviews, medical evaluations and mental health treatment in a safe, child-friendly environment.  The Center has been in existence since 2001 and serves over 350 children annually from Rogers, Mayes, and Craig Counties.
