Department of Mathematics & Physical Sciences

The Department of Mathematics and Physical Science seeks to provide a solid general education component for all RSU students, provide curriculum in the physical sciences for students who are preparing for a baccalaureate-granting program, and provide programs of study to students presently in the workforce, allowing them the opportunity to continue their education.

The Associate of Science in Physical Science consists of general education curriculum and discipline-specific courses allowing emphasis in three options in:
  • Chemistry
  • Geology
  • Physics/Engineering/Math
Courses offered in the department also support Bachelor Degree programs in: The stated purposes of the department are to: 
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of basic physical science principles and their applications.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills through critical thinking and the scientific method.
  • Explain and predict quantitative, analytical and graphical situations.
  • Demonstrate an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
