Department of History & Political Science

Dr. Paul Herbert, Executive Director,
First Division Museum at Cantigny

Philip Jackson, '14, B.A., Public Administration

A major in Social Science with an option in Political Science or History is not just for lawyers or politicians.

Both will develop your communication skills and analytical tools for careers in such diverse fields as:

  • journalism
  • education
  • government
  • nongovernmental organizations
  • business

Students can also minor in either discipline as part of their degree or as part of other bachelor degree programs (such as a B.S. in Human Resources Management or Communications.)

The department also coordinates advising for the Associate in Arts in Secondary Education which offers area students the first two-years of college and prepares them for smooth transfer to other Oklahoma universities to finish their bachelor degree in education.

Our faculty are committed to providing students with a quality liberal arts education that will enable them to pursue a variety of career options.
