RSU High School Art Portfolio Day

Friday, March 2, 2012

The RSU Fine Arts Department and the Student Art Association will host the Rogers State University High School Art Portfolio Day.

We will award scholarships or fee waivers to students with the most impressive portfolios.

The competition is only open to the high school seniors graduating in the spring 2012 or students qualified for concurrent enrollment at Rogers State University, which would include some juniors, depending on their high school’s policy.

Awards will be announced and portfolios will be available for pick-up March 9, 2012. The RSU Art Faculty will offer short written critiques on each portfolio submitted.

  • All work must be submitted to the Baird Hall Foundations Gallery by March 2, 2012 no later than 5:30 p.m.
  • Students may enter one 10-15 piece portfolio for consideration in the portfolio competition.
  • All two-dimensional work should be matted. Individual pieces must be enclosed in an actual portfolio.
  • Three-dimensional pieces must be fully assembled and able to stand or hang on their own.
  • Only large pieces or installations can be submitted digitally.
  • Selected pieces from the winning portfolios will be shown at Art On The Hill, September 28-29, 2012.

Rogers State University continues to offer the unique and highly successful Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts degree to incoming students.  This degree gives RSU art students the opportunity to take all four undergraduate years of their art education at RSU, with options in Studio Arts, Graphic Design, Multimedia or Photographic Arts.

Students are provided many opportunities concerning the arts in our Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts, Communications and Game Development degrees and through various minors.

We are excited about the portfolio day and the future of our program and hope these opportunities will allow area high school art students to continue their art education at Rogers State University.
