American Studies

The American Studies Minor is designed to develop in-depth knowledge of American culture and experiences. 

Students will explore influential American cultural movements from the birth of a nation to the birth of Jazz and beyond. 

Students may take courses in:

• HUM 3323 Life in the American Mind
• HUM 3313 - The American Cultural Landscape
• American Intellectual History
• HUM 3343 - Sports in the Humanities
• MUSC 2843 - The History of Jazz and Popular Music
• ENGL 2773 - American Literature
• and others

American Studies is an excellent precursor to law and political science degrees or careers in literature, journalism, business, or teaching.

Degree requirements:

• Minor in Liberal Arts (American Studies Option)
